Well hello there Coachella Valley. Rick Cubas here, owner of Preferred Air Conditioning, Heating & Plumbing, heading to what we call a slab leak. How do you fix a leak under a slab? We had a customer call in and say that they feel a little moisture and a warm temperature in their concrete in their living room area and what we found was we do have a hot water leak that’s coming down the wall and down underneath their slab area. So, we have a couple of plumbers on site right now. We’ve located the leak, which is the first part of assessing a slab leak, of course, is getting down to the nitty gritty and finding where exactly that leak is. And then the next step is jack hammering out that section of concrete so that we can expose where the problem is and secure a repair. More on that in just a little bit, we’re going to roll up on the team right now and find out the progress. Stay tuned.
How do you fix a leak under a slab?
Good morning, Coachella Valley. It’s a beautiful day out here, on a Thursday morning. Sounds like our guys are hard at work already on the inside doing some jack hammering and exposing a slab leak. So, a customer called up and said that they feel warm temperatures on their dining/living room floor, and that’s typically because there is a hot water leak underneath the slab. So we’re going to go ahead and check out the inside and see what kind of progress is being done here.
Here we are, actually on a water slab leak and we have Javier here showing us where the possibility of the leak is coming from.
As you can see right here, this right here, it shows signs of rust.
Right here but not over here. But if you look inside here, it’s nothing but rust.
Let’s see if you can see on the inside here.
That’s where the water is coming. Let me give you some light, one second.
You can see some rust down there. So the main problem is this main line coming right here.
I don’t know, for some reason it looks like it was running this way. So we’re going to expose here.
We’re going to expose all this, jackhammer it all out.
Fixing a leak under a slab
Hopefully we’ll find it and then expose probably about a foot deep and then turn on the water. Hopefully it’s on this line.
Gotcha. All right. I can see we’ve got all the furniture covered and protected to make sure our customer’s belongings are all safe and sound. What do you think, Mike?
This is Mike our plumbing field advisor here. He’s the one who actually figured out how we’re going to correct this problem. And so we’ll have more on this later on.
All right, all right, all right. This is the final video of the hot water slab leak. Now, we got it repaired. Got a whole new water line ran all the way to the water heater. No leaks, looking good. We got it back filled. Now, like I said in the previous video, the homeowner will find a handyman to do all the patch work. So, that’s the bar sink.
Connects, use the 3/4 by 3/4 by half T. Went up into the attic, ran it all the way to there, and it drops down. Bam. Feeding this, and we had to reconnect new line, re-feeding, it was a manifold. So we had to keep water, keep feeding to. I believe it was the kitchen hot water. But, all done.
Old fashioned service. Customer preferred.
